Graham Wilson, who took over as head teacher this academic year, reports in his spring newsletter that: “After what has been a lengthy discussion at the Governing Body and with our Riverside Federation partners, a decision has been taken to postpone our application for the foreseeable future, concentrating on collaborative partnerships around the Riverside Federation and the Bitterne Park Teaching Alliance.”
Last March the school said it was “looking to pursue the academy route”, probably by creating its own multi-academy trust, enabling it to work with other similarly minded local schools which didn’t want to be taken over by one of the larger academy chains.
At that time it was thought the school could become an academy this academic year.
We contacted the school for more information about the decision. We’ll endeavour to update this piece if they respond over the next few days.
