The Airport's revised masterplan, published in November 2006, predicts passenger numbers will grow from 1.84 million in 2005 to 3.05 million by 2015, and to 6 million by 2030.
If you're worried about expansion for any reason, we've put together a list of things you can do now.
Most importantly, it's still important to make a noise about expansion, says the Airport Pressure Group.

The line is run by BAA. You may well encounter an ansaphone. Leave your name, address, phone no, date and a brief description of the complaint.
The Airport should be closed from 11pm to 6am Mon -
Sat, and from 7.30am on Sundays (There are a few exceptions to this
that may include medical emergency flights or delayed flights). There
is also provision for a maximum of 10 aircraft movements a calendar
month during night hours. Helicopter movements are banned during night
hours.
The Airport monitors statistics on noise complaints; it says on its website: "Each individual complaint is recorded on a database, and presented as
part of the data provided to the Southampton Airport Consultative
Committee for review on a quarterly basis."
The Airport Pressure Group says it's also important to pass on your concerns to council planners.

You can read more about the role of Airport Consultative Committees here, but the gist of it seems to be that this body is a way for neighbours to have an input; as the site says, as well as any benefits:
[Airports] are also a source of noise and other pollution and they can be
deleterious in the wider environment. So for some of their neighbours,
and those who serve or represent them, they can be a mixed blessing. Through
consultation and dialogue comes the understanding and compromise which
allows many of the problems to be solved or at least mitigated. Along
with the representation of passenger interests, this is the key role of
an Airport Consultative Committee.
