Uni-link
will severely cut back its U9 bus route, linking Townhill Park,
Bitterne Triangle, Portswood, Taunton’s College and the General
Hospital, from July 10. Uni-link’s services are offered to students and
public alike.
Currently the U9 service runs every 90 minutes during weekday daytimes.
But from July 10 frequency will be reduced to a
“term-time rush hour-only service”. Low passenger numbers are given as
the reason for the cut.
Uni-link’s website says
of its revised U9 timetable: “This will ensure that most people can
still get to the University, Tauntons College and the General Hospital
at the times they need”. The revised schedule is not yet available
online.
A source told us that the General Hospital, which used to part-fund the
service, has now withdrawn support, leaving only Taunton's College and
the University to contribute.
