shopNew Triangle fruit and veg store Chapys was due to open on Wednesday (Jan 9).

As well as fruit and veg, Michelle intends to offer other goods including herbs and spices, loo and kitchen rolls and crisps. There will also be a selection of organic produce. She also hopes to stock some wholefoods over time.

Pete SmithFruitopia stopped trading in July 2007. It sold fresh fruit and veg, organic produce, wholefoods and flowers. Owner Pete Smith cited a range of reasons, from the closure of the Triangle post office to the opening of Tesco Express and Waitrose.

Some see the provision of fresh fruit and veg at the Triangle as one of the essential ingredients to its success as a trading area.

Thank goodness! I am going to Bitterne to get my fresh fruit and veg and thats tricky to do after work! I wish Michelle all the best for the shop and I will use it every other day. It will bring lots more people back to the Triangle too!

Organic please
written by Pete/Sophie1, January 01, 2008
We agree - good luck to Michelle. But please stock organic, and preferably locally sourced produce. If you're going to compete with the big stores you need a USP and surely selling local, organic food is just that...

Please stock organic produce
written by embr28, January 02, 2008
It's such great news that the triangle will have a fruit and veg shop again, I am delighted and have really missed the friut and veg box that I got from Fruitopia. I totally agree that it would be great if they could stock local organic produce...I think that previously it came from Sunnyfields in Totton.
Good luck, can't wait until it opens.

Best wishes

We get all our fruit, veg, milk, eggs and bread delivered weekly using Sunnyfields box scheme. It is very responably priced: costs a lot less than any supermarket.

I was about to switch to Fruitopia's scheme but they closed down just as I was looking into it!

The new owners would be mad not to stock organic produce - our delivery driver gets mobbed by passers-by whenever he stops outside our house.

good news

Great to hear about the new fruit & veg shop. We really miss being able to get wholefoods at the Triangle too. We used to get rice, oats, pasta, seeds, nuts etc and also things like rice milk, soya milk, honey........ It would be great to be able to walk down for those things again rather than driving to Waitrose!
Good luck Michelle smilies/cheesy.gif

advice
written by arah, January 13, 2008
So pleased to see the fruit and veg shop opened! And wish Michelle good luck. Word of advice though having been in this week - you need a wider range of fruit and veg otherwise (although I want to support you) if I have to go elsewhere for things I will inevitably get the rest of my fruit/veg there as well. Just saying this because I want you to succeed....

Fruit and Veg Shop
written by AnnMacGillivray, January 19, 2008
I have used the shop several times since it has re-opened.
Veg is nice and fresh.
And they leave free rabbit (or Guinea pig) food Outside the shop!
Customer service is good.
I think Michelle is wise to buy in fresh produce in a limited amount until the business takes off.
If we all support her maybe she could stock more items!
Perhaps offering an ordering service where you can pick up your shopping after work would suit some people.

Good luck
Michelle
