Santa spied early on the Common

santa dash runnersDog walkers braving the rainy weather thought that Christmas had come early when hundreds of Santas were seen jogging round the Common on Sunday (Dec 9)

Around a hundred santas were taking part in a "Santa Dash' to raise money for Southampton Hospital's Children's Charitable Fund. Runners included a team from British Miltary Fitness - a keep fit group run by soldiers who circuit train every weekend around the Common.

500 ran yesterday in a similar event in Brighton, but organisers said they were delighted with the turnout, given the very stormy weather.
