Why not take one much enjoyed local green open space – and dump a sofa in it?

We received this photo on Monday (Sept 17) of an old sofa dumped at Deep Dene. It was reportedly some distance from both main entrances, near the children's play area and fairly close to a perimeter wall.
Litter left on an almost daily basis by the bench at the top of the field, where there's no bin, is also an ongoing issue at what is generally a pleasant green space.
As reported last week in our piece about rubbish recently dumped at Woodmill, local authorities were given greater powers in 2016 to tackle fly-tipping by issuing penalty notices of between £150 and £400 to those caught in the act of fly-tipping anything from old fridges or sofas to garden waste or rubble.
Whether they actually have the resources to catch culprits is an interesting question.
You can report fly-tipping either direct to the council from this link, or by using the FixMyStreet link from our own site (Main menu > Info > FixMyStreet; create a login then click on ‘Report a problem here’).
