regency dancers FOCRLIt was a celebration of everything Austen – and everything cake, at Cobbett Hub and Library at the weekend (Oct 21).

The Friends of Cobbett Road Library (FOCRL) had organised a Regency Tea Party to coincide with the city's 'SO: To Speak' festival of words (runs until Oct 28), with tea, cake, Jane Austen quizzes, authentic music, "hilarious period dances" and more.

From this FOCRL picture it looks like a couple of local politicians were certainly entering into the spirit! You can read a full event write-up by Charlie Place on the SO: To Speak website, and learn about the important role of pineapples in Recency England to boot...
