"Hi. This is just a comment on your website as I have just discovered it. I am a Bitterne Parker Parker because that's my last name! I lived in Bitterne Park at the White Lodge, Castle Road. I now live on Vancouver Island in British Columbia Canada. Thanks for the lovely reminder of Bitterne Park."
Colin Parker, Vancouver Island

jane austen assumed public domain wikipedia cropped 200pxShawls, bonnets, gowns, tailcoats and cravats are most welcome at a Regency Tea Party – with a promised twist and a strong Jane Austen theme – on Saturday, October 21 at Cobbett Hub & Library.

The Friends of Cobbett Road Library say on their website:

The Friends have been inspired by this to hold a Regency Tea Party on Saturday October 21.  This will have a strong Jane Austen theme, part of which uses the fact that she was the first person to write about "sponge cake".  But, in keeping with the Friends' attitude of inclusiveness and flexibility, we're taking a very broad approach in our Tea Party, one aspect of which is the pineapple (all will be revealed in due course!)  Tea, sponge cake, pineapples, Regency costume and music, Jane Austen and more - do join us.”

Games, quizzes, stalls and recorded music from the Green Ginger Band are all also on the bill from noon until 4pm.

You can ownload the poster for the event from the Friends’ website here.
