About the Events

Exclusive One-Day Poetry Workshop
10.00am ~ 4.00pm

The morning will begin with a meet-and-greet cup of tea or coffee, followed by a round-the-table workshop to prompt new work. After this, there will be quiet writing time and a period of sharing and discussion before breaking for lunch. During the afternoon, everyone will have the chance and time to write, with an opportunity for a brief on-to-one with Gillian before all gathering for final sharing of work ~ this is a celebratory time! All participants will leave with poems, drafts of poems and further ideas for writing in the future.

**Places are strictly limited to 12 writers so book fast to avoid disappointment. The cost is £80 per person, which includes a ticket to the evening reading/Zoology book launch. Places must be booked in advance either online or via The Brook Box Office. Details of how to book can be found below**

Evening Reading New Collection ‘Zoology’ Book Launch 
7.30 ~ 9.30pm

We are thrilled that Gillian has chosen The Brook for the Hampshire Launch of her eagerly anticipated new collection, Zoology, her ninth Carcanet collection.

This is a wonderful opportunity for poetry lovers to listen to Gillian recite in such an intimate setting.

There will be an hours reading with new and older poems being performed followed by a book signing and the chance to meet Gillian to ask any burning questions about her poetry and work.

Gillian Clarke has been on the GCSE and A Level exam syllabus for the past thirty years and has performed her poetry regularly for Poetry Live alongside Carol Ann Duffy, Britain’s Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage, John Agard and Imtiaz Dharker, amongst other distinguished poets and writers.

In 2010 Gillian was awarded the Queen’s Gold medal for Poetry and also the Wilfred Owen Award in 2012. Ice, was shortlisted for the TS Eliot Award 2012 and her latest collection, Zoology, is just out.

Her Prose works include a writer’s journal, At the Source and she has written for radio, as well as translating poetry and prose from Welsh.

The Gathering/Yr Helfa, written for the National Theatre of Wales, was performed on Snowdon in September 2014 and received great accolade
