Residents urged to secure property following recent break-ins PDF Print E-mail

police mirror textPolice have warned residents to secure property following recent shed and garage break-ins in the area.

Bikes and gardening equipment have apparently been taken.

We’ve separately been told about about recent bicycle thefts from a garage, and a shed break-in in the Bond/ Dimond Road areas.

Police recommend various measures to reduce the risk, including:

  • marking valuable items with a UV pen and registering them at www.immobilise.com
  • checking whether items are in fact insured under household policies
  • using good quality ‘D’ locks on bikes, secured to anchor points
  • installing movement-triggered lighting near sheds or garages that are visible from the road
  • locking side gates or if possible blocking them with a vehicle

If you have information about crime you can contact the police by phoning 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

• Have you been affected by similar break-ins recently? We’d be interested to hear from you via our Contact Us form.
