music in the city lgoOctober 7/8 It’s the Southampton event that sees punk and country acts rubbing shoulders in venues ranging from underground vaults to ships and coffee houses: Music in the City (MitC) is back in October, and the 2017 programme has been published.

The family-friendly musical celebration offers the opportunity to choose from over 170 performances by local artists, in genres ranging from blues and folk to jazz, choral and classical.

MitC also offers the chance to discover some lesser-known city locations, and on Saturday 7 you can even hop on and off heritage buses for a free ride to your next musical stop.

“Music in the City is always one of the best days in the Southampton musical calendar. The aim to showcase local performers in unusual venues always throws up surprises and discoveries and the city rarely seems as thriving, artistically, as on this busiest of October Saturdays.” said Dan O’Farrell, who performs with The Difference Engine.

You can see the full programme and find more details on the MitC website

• Dan O’Farrell and the Difference Engine play at Talking Heads, SO15 2BN at 2pm on Saturday October 7 as part of Music in the City.
