The store closed last autumn for safety reasons after what was described as “structural damage”.

A Barnardo’s spokesperson told bitternepark.info:

“Unfortunately the Barnardo’s store at 32 Manor Farm Road will not be re-opening. However, customers and donors can be reassured that the Barnardo’s stores close by in Bitterne Village and Shirley are looking forward to welcoming you.”

The popular store was described by one local resident as a “vital local recycling shop”, and Terry Hackett from Il Picchio, opposite Barnardos, previously said that the shop was a valued part of the local community.
