"Hi. This is just a comment on your website as I have just discovered it. I am a Bitterne Parker Parker because that's my last name! I lived in Bitterne Park at the White Lodge, Castle Road. I now live on Vancouver Island in British Columbia Canada. Thanks for the lovely reminder of Bitterne Park."

“No. The pub isn’t closed,” landlord Stephen Wicken, pictured, told bitternepark.info. “We had to close for a week while they did some drainage work; Enterprise [the pub’s owners] have tackled the drainage problem as there was a collapsed drain underneath the pub.”

He said this had meant that the local had had to close for the first week in February while the problem was fixed, and that the kitchen has to remain closed for another “couple of weeks” while a final issue is resolved.

Then, he said, everything will be back to normal.
