People are invited to pop in for a few minutes, or stay and rest for a while, at Bitterne Park churches’ first joint community prayer day at The Old Chemist on Saturday (July 2).
Organisers say they want to make prayer accessible to the whole community, with a range of “contemplative, practical and traditional prayer activities and resources for anyone and everyone to come in and see, start a conversation about prayer or receive prayer”.

There will be led children’s activities at 10am and 2pm, and guided mindful prayer at 11am.
Sandy Henson, from New Community Church, said: “Many of us pray at times in our lives. Most of us feel that community is hugely important. We want ours to be a good place to grow up in and a good place to grow old in.
“So we wanted to create a space to pray with our community and for our community; to offer a 'taste and see' opportunity to all who are interested in prayer or merely curious to see what's going on.”
