Out and about: live music coming up near you

Bitterne Park & Bitterne

Lambrettas, Vespas and Parka jackets at the ready: Ska and Mod favourites “Mod Town“ play live at the Hop Inn on Saturday, February 13 and “Skamageddon” play live at The Bitterne Park Hotel on Friday, February 26.

Meanwhile Bitterne Park Social Club hosts live bands “Jack Rabbit” on Saturday, February 13 and “Back Beat Trio” on Saturday, February 20.

St Denys

The Junction hosts its regular and popular “Folk at the Riverside” sessions every Thursday.

dolphin pub interiorThe Dolphin, pictured right, continues its impressive abundance of live music: regular jazz nights with “Harry Young and the Jazz Club Guys” are held every Monday and ever popular Open Mike nights on Tuesdays throughout February. “The Pete Harris R&B Band” entertain a Vicars and Tarts fancy dress night taking place on Saturday, February 13, “Three Monkeys – Steve Lowis” play live on Wednesday, February 17, “Jo Long – Pure Drops” plays on Thursday, February 18 and you can catch “Stevie Johns Band” on Friday, February 19.


The Touch Harry Young Band” entertains the crowds at The Dolphin on Saturday, February 20 and “The James Duo  The Hook Brothers” play live on Sunday, February 21, “Shiraz Jazz” play live on Thursday, February 25, “Burnt Orange” play Friday, February 26 and “RSJ R&B” on Saturday, February 27. Finally “Andy and Jan’s DJ night” takes place on Sunday, February 26.

The Brook hosts the mightily impressive indie, folk acoustic rock band “Turin Brakes” as part of their 2016 UK tour on Wednesday, February 24, and as tribute to the Rolling Stones, the “Bog Rolling Stones” play live on Friday, February 19: expect wigs, stripy trousers, and lots of energy and humour!


“Turncoat” play live at the Richmond Inn on Saturday, February 13, in addition to the ever popular Karaoke night taking place on Friday, February 26 and “Vinyl Heaven Disco” spinning the wheels of steel on Saturday, February 27/       

One step beyond

And finally, if you fancy stretching the legs and going slightly further afield, these live acts are all on Saturday, February 20:

The Notes Café grand opening takes place @ 14-15 Hanover Buildings, Southampton offering live music from 5.30-10pm; acts are TBA but do check the website and FB page for further updates.


guildhallThe fabulous “Richard Hawley” plays the O2 Guildhall (Civic Centre Road, Southampton, and The Alexandra (Bellevue Road, Southampton) hosts “The Foo Forgers” as part of their regular covers band night.

And all this is just a snippet of the wide variety of live music in local pubs, clubs and venues near you, so there's plenty to see and do over the next couple of weeks.
