Southampton Area Co-op Development Agency (SACDA) has “offered to head an expression of interest” to run Cobbett Road Library if people come forward to form an 'action group' to work with them, according to the library friends group.
If groups don't come forward to run five Southampton libraries, including Cobbett Road, they're likely to face closure when the council withdraws its funding from next April.
“The Friends of Cobbett Road Library (FOCRL) will remain as it is, in full support of the library and any groups wanting to help run Cobbett, but not putting in a bid as a group. A new group would be formed as Cobbett Action Group to work with SACDA,” explains FOCL.
FOCL stresses: “This would not be a commitment to running the library, just an expression of interest to explore further the idea of a co-operative run library.”
Expressions of interest need to received in by Monday (October 19), so there's some urgency to the appeal – contact Nina Lambert on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
