New events for all at Library
There’s a flurry of events for all ages coming up at Cobbett Road Library, now the community facility has been saved from closure.
Friends of Cobbett Road Library
All are welcome to an inaugural Friends of Cobbett Road Library meet up on March 31, from 10-12, which will then take place regularly on the last Saturday of every month (now from 11-12pm).
The idea is to chat about the Library and its community role, to look at how to preserve the building’s heritage, and to get ideas on uses for the rooms to benefit more groups and support more local events. If you or your friends have got ideas, then feel free to go along. Refreshments and activities for the younger children will be provided.
Going Cheep
There’s an event for 4-10 year olds at the Library on Monday April 2 from 10.30-11.30am. ‘Going Cheep’ will feature stories, poems and crafts. Tickets are available in advance for a Ł1 deposit, refundable on the day. Parents/carers must stay with under 8s during the session.
New Teen Reading Group
Another new initiative is a Teen Reading Group which kicks off on Saturday April 14 from 10.30-11.30am. It’s suitable for those in years 6,7, or 8. Snacks will be supplied.
Bitterne Park Ward Surgeries
Our ward councillors are now going to move their surgeries to Cobbett Road Library on the third Saturday of each month, from 10.30-12.30. So if you wish to discuss local issues of concern, you can catch up with your elected representatives there.
