Public meeting to discuss Rosebrook Court

Beech Grove Residents' Association is holding a public meeting at the church hall in Cobden Avenue at 6pm Wednesday August 9, to discuss the re-development of Rosebrook Court in Beech Avenue, off Midanbury Lane, and to decide whether to object to the planning department.

There was a meeting on July 27 at the site with the developers, the architect and consultants, to outline plans and answer questions.

Apparently the plan is for two new buildings on the site: one (the smaller) for adults dependant on supervision, with day visitors sharing the facilities. The bungalow adjoining (2 Beech Avenue) will be demolished and a much larger care unit will be built. The residents will apparently be senior citizens needing a care worker on site.

Owners Saxon Weald will sell a few units on a 25% retention of ownership (shared ownership) basis, with the majority retained by the housing association to meet "social housing needs". They believe that the majority of residents will be 70+ and less likely to own cars due to health problems. Therefore the belief is that the two car parks on site will be used mainly by staff, doctors visiting and visitors.
