The council is holding an information day on Thursday, March 28 to encourage more people to become foster carers.
Prospective carers will have the chance to talk to the city’s fostering team about what it takes to provide a foster home, as well as to carers about their experiences. The team is encouraging people to pop along for an informal, no-obligation chat to find out about the different types of fostering placements, training and financial support available.
In Southampton there are currently over 450 children in care with over 250 foster homes. The council says more households are needed in order to offer a wider choice of carers and respite for families, giving the young people the positive and nurturing experience they need.
The information day takes place on Thursday, March 28, (9am - 5pm) at the Civic Centre Library.
