Cobden Bridge melts

Cobden BridgeCobden Bridge has made it onto the pages of the Mail Online in their big story about the weather: "... drivers were left in a sticky situation in Southampton after the heatwave caused a bridge to melt.
The surface of Cobden Bridge began to soften and was damaged as the tarmac sizzled in the spring sunshine," says the Mail. (Loose chippings are very dangerous for cyclists at the moment too, by the way.) In a more detailed local report, the Daily Echo said that road temperatures were believed to have reached between 60C (140F) and 70C (158F); it said Cobden Bridge was last resurfaced in 2009 as part of works on Cobden Avenue that cost £600,000.
