‘TriFest at the Triangle’ premiered by the clock tower in 2018, subsequently relocating to the Cobden Bridge end of Riverside Park.

It offers a ‘village fete’-style festival, with everything from games and a beer tent to music, dog show and stalls.

But recently TriFest discovered the name is a trademark of the Triumph Owners’ Motor Cycle Club C.I.C.

To the relief of festival organisers, the motorcycle club has now agreed to let the popular Riverside event continue using the name in perpetuity, and at no cost.

Speaking to bitternepark.info, festival organiser Paul Jenks, pictured left, said: “Was it our mistake? Yup, it was. We’re really pleased that the club – which they didn’t have to do, they could have said ‘stop’ – [that] they have agreed for our continued use of it. So we’re very grateful to them.”

And on what was Twitter, the festival posted: “It would have been a major headache to change our name after the following we have built up, and we recognise that it was our mistake and TMOC were under no obligation to do this. So we are very grateful to them for their cooperative and helpful approach.”

TriFest had to be cancelled this year for safety reasons related to the weather. The good news is that it plans to be back in 2024 – provisionally on July 27.
