Encampment remains on Riverside Park

The encampment on the former pitch and putt course at Riverside Park remains in place, despite the council reportedly being awarded possession at a court hearing a week ago.

While it had been thought that an eviction would be enforced swiftly given such a court outcome, it’s understood that the authority is now waiting for the court to advise on a date for eviction.

There was apparently also a previous delay in securing both the deeds for the site, and a court date.

Around five caravans/motorhomes and associated vehicles are reportedly still on the site as of today (July 24).

Bitterne Park ward councillor Tony Bunday said he and the other councillors are "chasing this daily" and "doing everything we can to move this on".
